And you know what?
Of course it was super good. It was super good! Start to finish it’s just a brilliant show. At the end of
DON’T FUCKING SCROLL DOWN BECAUSE THERE ARE SPOILERS. WATCH SOME FUCKING SUPER GT INSTEAD.
I was approaching this incorrectly. Thanos is the main player. Everyone else is just an NPC in this game. Can’t wait for Avengers Blue. Also fuck my arse, that ending was just...

Not sure if necessecary since you said it above, but...
SPOILERS BELOW
To
be honest, I wasn’t exactly enthralled with the first 85% or so of the
movie. The conflicts around the procurement of all but one of the stones
felt like they almost all played out in the same manner, with arbitrary mistakes,
character flaws, and stale tropes clutching defeat from the jaws of victory time and time again. I get that no character should perfect, but with so many critical moments being driven by things other than ability or wit in a universe with no shortage of either, I struggled to find a reason to care.
Fortunately, the soul stone bit and the ending helped (mostly) turn it around for me. I enjoy a good villain, and the movie did reasonably well with Thanos in spite of tossing him straight into the deep end of 25+ well-established heroes all vying for the audience’s attention. As trifling as many of the events leading up to it felt, the consequences of his ultimate success still managed to hit, and hit HARD. I’m glad they didn’t pull any punches there, because as far as I’m concerned, not all movies need a happy ending, and this one definitely didn’t deserve one by the time it got there.
Here’s hoping they can at least do something smart with the nigh-inevitible deus ex machina that will “fix” things... or better yet, find a way to forego it for a while and give us something different in the now broken and depopulated universe.

It wasn’t as grandiose because I was laughing my butt off. Regular teamfight, sure, but the interactions spiced up the skirmishes. Bruce is the most fun guy to have. Until the fun stopped. Then shit just got real.
